Section 2
Rental Arrangement
A rental arrangement is formed when Roamveldt issues a written Booking Summary and the customer confirms acceptance. Enquiries submitted through the website do not themselves constitute a binding arrangement until a Booking Summary has been issued and acknowledged by both parties.
Roamveldt offers the following rental categories, each with its own scope and pricing as set out on the Roamveldt website:
-
One-Way Inter-City Compact โ A single-leg compact vehicle rental between two Malaysian cities, including drop-off at the destination handover point and a pre-trip route review.
-
Three-Day Inter-City Sedan โ A three-day sedan-class rental suited for a round-trip highway journey, with a mileage allowance appropriate for highway use.
-
Weeklong Inter-City Touring โ A seven-day touring arrangement covering three to four cities, including a touring-suited vehicle, a mid-trip vehicle review, and route notes per leg.
Roamveldt reserves the right to decline a booking enquiry at its discretion, provided no Booking Summary has yet been issued.
Section 3
Driver Eligibility
To be eligible to drive a Roamveldt vehicle, the customer must meet all of the following at the time of pickup:
- Hold a valid Malaysian driving licence (or an International Driving Permit for foreign nationals) appropriate for the vehicle class.
- Be at least 21 years of age. Customers aged 21 to 24 may be subject to an additional young-driver supplement as noted in the Booking Summary.
- Have held a valid driving licence for a minimum of two consecutive years.
- Present a valid national identity card (MyKad) or passport at the time of vehicle collection.
- Not have been disqualified from driving by any Malaysian court or authority within the preceding 36 months.
Only the named customer in the Booking Summary may operate the vehicle unless Roamveldt has expressly confirmed an additional named driver in writing prior to the rental period.
Section 4
Vehicles
The specific vehicle model assigned may differ from any model shown on the website, provided the assigned vehicle falls within the same class confirmed in the Booking Summary (compact, sedan, or touring-suited). Roamveldt will endeavour to provide the category of vehicle agreed upon.
All vehicles are road-legal, serviced in accordance with the manufacturer's schedule, and covered by road tax and the applicable insurance policy required under Malaysian law at the time of rental.
The customer will be invited to inspect the vehicle at the handover point before departing. Any pre-existing marks, damage, or concerns should be raised at this point and noted in writing on the handover record. Concerns raised after departure may be more difficult to attribute and will be assessed accordingly.
Section 5
Permitted Use
The vehicle may be used for personal inter-city travel within Peninsular Malaysia or Sarawak (as applicable to the booking) during the rental period. The following uses are not permitted:
- Use of the vehicle for hire, reward, or any commercial passenger service.
- Sub-letting or transferring the vehicle to any third party not named in the Booking Summary.
- Use of the vehicle on unmaintained, unpaved, or off-road tracks not part of the agreed highway route.
- Travelling outside the agreed route corridor or into countries other than Malaysia without prior written consent from Roamveldt.
- Transportation of goods for commercial purposes or hazardous materials of any kind.
- Operating the vehicle in a manner that constitutes reckless or dangerous driving under the Road Transport Act 1987.
Smoking is not permitted inside any Roamveldt vehicle. Pets may be transported in appropriate carriers at Roamveldt's prior written approval. A cleaning charge may apply where the vehicle interior requires specialist attention upon return.
Section 6
Pickup & Return
The customer must collect the vehicle at the handover point and at the time confirmed in the Booking Summary. Where a customer is unable to arrive within 60 minutes of the agreed collection time, Roamveldt should be notified by phone at +60 17-285 6493. Roamveldt reserves the right to treat an uncollected vehicle after 2 hours without notice as a no-show, with the booking fee retained.
For one-way arrangements, the vehicle is to be delivered to the destination handover point agreed in the Booking Summary. For multi-day arrangements, the vehicle is to be returned to the originating or agreed return handover point by the confirmed return time.
The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at the time of pickup. A fuel shortfall will be charged at the prevailing pump rate plus a handling supplement. The vehicle should be returned in a reasonably clean condition.
Section 7
Mileage
Each rental category includes a mileage allowance suited to the nature of the trip, as stated in the Booking Summary. The One-Way Inter-City Compact and Three-Day Inter-City Sedan include a mileage allowance appropriate for a single-route or return highway journey. The Weeklong Inter-City Touring arrangement includes an allowance covering three to four-city coverage.
Mileage above the stated allowance will be charged at the rate noted in the Booking Summary, calculated from the odometer readings taken at pickup and return. Customers who anticipate higher mileage needs are encouraged to discuss this with Roamveldt prior to the rental period.
Section 8
Fees & Payment
The rental price stated in the Booking Summary covers the base rental for the agreed vehicle category, standard mileage allowance, and where applicable, the mid-trip vehicle review and route notes. Tolls, petrol, parking, and any supplementary charges are not included unless stated otherwise.
A deposit may be collected at the time of vehicle pickup, returnable after the vehicle has been inspected at return, subject to any applicable deductions. The deposit amount will be stated in the Booking Summary.
Payment arrangements will be outlined in the Booking Summary. Where an invoice or payment reference is issued, it is to be settled within the timeframe noted. Roamveldt will provide a receipt upon payment.
Section 9
Damage & Loss
The customer is responsible for the vehicle and its condition from the time of pickup until return. In the event of damage, accident, theft, or any incident involving the vehicle during the rental period, the customer is to:
- Notify Roamveldt by phone as soon as it is safe to do so.
- Not admit liability to any third party on behalf of Roamveldt.
- Obtain the details of any third parties involved, including name, contact, vehicle registration, and insurer where relevant.
- File a police report where required under Malaysian law and provide Roamveldt with the report reference number.
Damage to the vehicle that was not noted on the handover record at the time of pickup, and that is identified at return, will be assessed by Roamveldt. The customer may be responsible for repair costs up to the limit noted in the Booking Summary, subject to the applicable insurance coverage.
Damage or loss arising from use outside the permitted uses in Section 5 of these terms will not be covered under the rental insurance, and the customer will bear the full cost of repair or replacement.
Section 10
Cancellation
Cancellation terms are set out in the Booking Summary and may vary depending on the rental category and timing of the cancellation. As a general guide:
| Notice Given Before Pickup | Typical Outcome |
|---|---|
| 7 or more days | Full refund of any amount paid, less any administration charge noted in the Booking Summary. |
| 3 to 6 days | Partial refund as specified in the Booking Summary. A portion of the booking fee may be retained to cover reservation costs. |
| Under 3 days | No refund in most cases. Roamveldt will consider exceptional circumstances on a case-by-case basis. |
| No show | No refund. The vehicle is considered delivered and the rental period commenced. |
Where Roamveldt cancels a confirmed arrangement due to circumstances within its control (for example, vehicle unavailability), the customer will receive a full refund of any amounts paid.
Section 11
Section 11
Liability
Roamveldt's liability under these terms is limited to the direct rental arrangement. Roamveldt is not responsible for:
- Loss of personal belongings left in or transported with the vehicle.
- Delays, missed connections, or other consequential losses arising from traffic, road conditions, or circumstances beyond Roamveldt's control.
- Damage to or loss of third-party property where the customer is at fault.
- Personal injury or loss arising from the customer's use of the vehicle.
These limitations apply to the extent permitted under Malaysian consumer protection law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded at law.
Section 12
Customer Conduct
The customer agrees to operate the vehicle in a lawful and responsible manner throughout the rental period. This includes compliance with all applicable road traffic laws, speed limits, and road use regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 and related legislation.
Traffic fines, toll violations, and any other penalties incurred during the rental period are the responsibility of the customer. Where Roamveldt is notified of a fine or summons arising from the rental period, the customer will be contacted and the relevant amount may be passed on, together with a handling fee as noted in the Booking Summary.
Section 13
Regulatory Compliance
Roamveldt operates in accordance with the requirements of Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) and applicable Malaysian road transport regulations. All vehicles in the fleet are maintained to roadworthy standards and carry the documentation required under Malaysian law.
The customer is also responsible for complying with all applicable laws and regulations during the rental period. Where a customer is uncertain about a particular regulation that may apply to their route or rental arrangement, they are encouraged to contact Roamveldt prior to the trip at +60 17-285 6493.
Section 14
Personal Data
Personal data submitted as part of the booking process is handled in accordance with Roamveldt's Privacy Policy, which forms part of the overall arrangement between the customer and Roamveldt. By submitting a booking enquiry, the customer consents to the processing of their data as described in the Privacy Policy.
Section 15
Amendments
Roamveldt may update these terms from time to time. The version in effect at the time a Booking Summary is issued will govern that arrangement. Updates to these terms will be reflected by a revised "Last Updated" date on this page.
For bookings already confirmed, any material change to the terms will be communicated to the customer in writing before taking effect for their arrangement.
Section 16
Disputes
Where a concern arises from a rental arrangement, the customer is encouraged to contact Roamveldt directly in the first instance at info@{{DOMAIN}} or +60 17-285 6493. Roamveldt will endeavour to address concerns promptly and in a straightforward manner.
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute that cannot be resolved through direct discussion may be referred to the relevant Malaysian courts or an appropriate alternative dispute resolution body as agreed between both parties.
